Retired journalist David House, Jewell's oldest son, has found little mention of his mother's contributions to country music and to the early careers of many artists who became legends. Some of her songs that we know of are classics still sung around the world, but Jewell, who died in 1971 at age 51, remains obscure. No longer, he hopes.
In 2011, David began to research Jewell's work in earnest. With special thanks to John Rumble and guidance from others at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, this website offers a bit of the best of what David has found and maybe a few footnotes for country music history. It's dedicated to Jewell, to all country music fans and to all who have blessed the human spirit through traditional country music.
